What is Dental Bridge Treatment?
Dental bridges are an effective method of replacing missing teeth for patients who do not have time for implant treatment or do not have enough bone structure. Dental bridges consist of artificial teeth that are attached to the healthy teeth next to the missing teeth. This way, both aesthetic and functional appearance is achieved. Dental bridges have a fixed structure unlike removable dentures and can be used like natural teeth. Dental bridges are applied by YND HEALTH company with quality materials and expert dentists.
How is Dental Bridge Made?
In order to make a dental bridge, the teeth on both sides of the missing teeth need to be reduced and covered with crowns. These crowns form the end points of the bridge and support the artificial teeth that are placed in the gap. The length of the bridge varies according to the number of missing teeth. For example, a three-tooth bridge is required for a single tooth deficiency, a four-tooth bridge for two tooth deficiencies, and a five-tooth bridge for three tooth deficiencies. During the construction of the bridge, the crowns and artificial teeth are connected to each other and become a single piece. However, when placed in the mouth, each tooth will appear separately and provide a natural appearance.
Dental bridge treatment consists of the same stages as dental crown treatment. First, the measurement of the teeth is taken and the bridge is prepared in the laboratory. During this process, a temporary bridge is attached to the patient. When the permanent bridge is ready, the temporary bridge is removed and the permanent bridge is glued in its place. Metal-supported or zirconium-supported crowns can be selected for dental bridge. Metal-supported crowns are more durable and economical, while zirconium-supported crowns offer a more aesthetic and natural appearance.
Who is Suitable for Dental Bridge?
- The teeth next to the missing teeth have a condition that already requires crowning
- There is not enough bone structure in the missing tooth area or the patient does not want to have a bone graft
- The missing teeth are in the front area and the patients have aesthetic concerns
- The missing teeth are in the back area and affect the chewing function of the patients
- The patients cannot afford the cost of implant treatment or want to get results in a shorter time
